An eco friendly soap mat made from the loofah plant. Two layers of loofah are attached together to give a sturdy, washable and stylish soap rest.
You can't have a natural soap without a natural soap mat! Loofah is such a versatile material as well as being a sustainable crop. It made sense to try it out as a soap mat...and what do you know, it works really well. Lucy, from Naturally Evergreen, and I designed the mat to have two layers of loofah, sewn together by Lucy's fair hand. This prevents the mat from curling, and gives it a decent depth for holding your soap and for effective drainage of soapy residue.
The loofah will expand slightly as it gets wet, as you can see from the image.
Easy to clean, you can rinse under the tap or throw into the washing machine once in a while. If you want to do some fast track cleaning, use the soapy loofah mat to clean your bathroom first! Loofahs are the most fantastic all-rounders; you can use them in the kitchen, bathroom and as a sponge for exfoliating your skin.
No more plastic sponges. Micro plastics leach from plastic sponges and wash down the sink into the water system every time they are used and then the sponge itself ends up on landfill. Terribly wasteful.
Loofahs grow on a bush and will rot back down into the earth, there is no better swap!
Size: Approx 8cm x 13cm. Please note shade of loofah varies. The current batch is darker, see Image 1.
About Naturally Evergreen Lucy is Naturally Evergreen, here is why she started her Bristol based company. 'I’ve had a love for the earth and all things nature my whole life and as I’ve got older my awareness of single use plastic feels like it’s on overdrive. Every time I use or throw away a piece of plastic that has barely been used I feel quite angry that it hasn’t yet been replaced by a better solution. I looked into what I could do as an individual for solutions in my own home.
I use bamboo toothbrushes, make my own toothpaste, soaps and cleaning products. I use a loofah for washing up and hemp cloths for cleaning. I make do and mend anything that I have the skills to repair and I upcycle. One day I came across the wax wrap idea and I was hooked! They are so versatile and useful and they make excellent gifts too and so Naturally Evergreen was born!'
End of Life Packaged in a simple paper belly band which is recyclable. The loofah mat is compostable and biodegradable at end of life.
