Compostable and biodegradable dog poo bags made from 100% corn starch. No plastic whatsoever! 

Dog poo, and dog poo bags, are a real burden on the environment. The combination of poo inside a plastic dog poo bag results in a situation where the dog poo cannot decompose, resulting in a build up of methane which is extremely damaging to the environment. When you consider the amount of dog poo bags making their way to landfill every day, the collective effect is significant.

Having recently gotten Lila, a Greek rescue dog, we wanted to make sure our impact on the environment was kept to an absolute minimum. A pet is another consumer after all, as much as we love them! Our first step was to find a truly biodegradable dog poo bag...and thus we discovered these corn starch bags. The ideal way to dispose of them is on your compost heap, providing you don't use the compost on any edible foods that you are growing - not for the veggie patch!

We took the step of burying a mini tin garden incinerator, like this one. We drilled a few more holes into the bottom, and found a small lid for the top. Your dog poo can then be dropped into the funnel, and will compost straight into the ground. You can add compost accelerator and some water to speed the process along.

End of Life
The materials used to make the bags are suitable for home composting. If you place the bag into landfill, it will take longer to break down, but will do so eventually leaving no residue.
