A reusable coffee cup made from natural and sustainable bamboo fibre, making it light to carry and easy to drink from.
A 12oz reusable ecoffee cup made from sustainable bamboo fibres and weighing in at a featherweight 135g. Stylish and sturdy, with a resealable 'no drip' lid, this cup is an excellent replacement for single-use coffee cups.
As a nation of coffee (and tea) drinkers, we can make a real difference to the amount of waste we throw away by replacing disposable cups with a reusable alternative, like the Ecoffee cup.
Whether it's a trip to your local coffee shop or a free coffee from Waitrose, take your own cup, do your bit, and set an eco example to everyone else. The great news is that most coffee shops now give a discount to customers who bring their own cup (Pret and Costa are two examples), so your cup will pay for itself in just a few months.
BPA and phthalate free Dishwasher safe (although we recommend soap and water for prolonged life) Not suitable for microwave Cup made from sustainable bamboo fibre Food grade silicone used for the lid and sleeve
About Ecoffee Cup Ecoffee Cup is an independant UK business based in Peterborough. The founders were driven to design a reusable cup in response to the frightening discovery that an estimated 3 billion disposable cups are used in the UK alone every year, most of which are not recyclable (less than 1%) and end up in landfill (or even worse, our countryside and our seas). Ecoffee Cup imitates the lightweight feel of a disposable cup, with the feel and sturdiness of thick cardboard. It is made from the world’s fastest growing, most sustainable crop – bamboo.
Sustainability Manufactured with low-energy emissions in China, near the source of the bambooo. Ecoffee Cup is committed to keeping its carbon footprint small and to ethical production, and visits the factory regularly. Their production facility has SEDEX and BSCI accreditation, to ensure that working conditions are ethical and fair.
End of Life The bamboo base of the Ecoffee cup is biodegradable under the correct conditions. To ensure that the cup biodegrades, at end of life you will need to do the following;
1) Crush into small (2-3 cm) pieces 2) Place in boiling water for 20 minutes 3) Bury with other organic matter in active compost heap 4) Ensure material is constantly covered by other bio-waste 5) Cup with biodegrade in 24 - 36 months **
* Silicon lid, stopper & sleeve are not biodegradable ** Subject to suitable temperature, organic and atmospheric conditions. Up to 10% residue possible.
As far as silicone is concerned, it can be recycled as a Code 7, which is not always accepted by all councils in the UK, but something Ecoffee Cup are working on.
From June this year Ecoffee Cup are working to introduce a full Closed Logo recycling programme, which means customers will be able to return the silicone components to them free of charge and they will be recycled on their behalf to ensure no components end up in landfill.
